The English Riviera Torbay
~
Paignton ~ Torquay ~ Brixham
The English Riviera has one of the best climatic records in Britain, making it the perfect holiday destination,
whatever the season. Torbay consists of the three main towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.
Riviera winters are mild and short, soon giving way to the flower filled warmth of an early spring as carefully
manicured gardens begin to bloom. It's also time to enjoy the freshness of the Riviera and the tranquillity of its
secluded beaches and rocky coves.
Like spring, the long summer starts early. Fresh, sunny days merge into balmy evenings and that unique Riviera atmosphere reaches its peak. A rich variety of evening entertainments provided throughout the Torbay, and all
year round. You can chose to explore the stunning coastline, relax on our fine beaches, visit a variety of shops
or spend the day at a local attraction.
* Please see the Links below to find out more about the Local Attractions *
Paignton ~ This popular resort has something for everyone and is situated at the heart of a 22 mile stretch of sandy coastline. Much of the fun is set around the Seafront, the Pier and the Esplanade, with a fine selection of good restaurants, cafés, bars, ice cream kiosks, beach shops, amusement arcades, marine activities, and the harbour. Paignton beaches are without doubt the best in the bay.
Torquay ~ Here you'll find the waterfront is the focus of life in the town, with its palm-lined promenade, seafront
gardens, a lively harbour and an international marina, yet within minutes of the town centre there are beautiful
beaches easily accessible by foot, road or sea.
Brixham ~ This delightful little town is more famous for its fishing port, still active and producing good catches
daily. Originally competing with Torquay and Paignton, it eventually dominated and remained the only active
port. In the 1800's as many as 250 vessels fished out of Brixham, from large trawlers to inshore boats, employing
over 1,500 people.
